I am a freelance journalist and audio producer covering a wide variety of topics ranging from local business issues to social issues to nutrition and health.

I'm currently working on a project about women and divorce. I'm interviewing women about what they consider to be their greatest accomplishment since getting divorced. You can read these stories at my blog Since My Divorce and if you have a story to share, please contact me.

I am a contributing editor for the Denver Voice which is a street newspaper covering poverty and homelessness.

You can also hear me on KGNU radio at 88.5 FM and 1390 AM. I usually help with the local headlines on Friday mornings between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and will periodically produce a news feature.

I've been honored with two awards for my audio work on schoolchildren and homelessness. My documentary, No Place Like Home, was awarded national winner for the 2008 Mark of Excellence Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. I also received a 2009 Media Service Award from the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.

Exempla - I covered the proposed takeover of the Exempla hospitals in the Denver metro area by The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth for KGNU and then pitched the story to Free Speech Radio News. It aired on FSRN on January 22, 2008.

Homeless and Schoolchildren - This is a series of five programs on the challenges schoolchildren who experience homelessness face. The series aired on KGNU the week of June 2, 2008. It culminated in an hour-long call-in show on the Friday morning. The call-in show file is too big to post here however I do have it if you're interested.

A New Exhibit About Asteroids - The National Science Foundation has awarded the Space Science Institute of Boulder, Colorado, a $3 million grant to develop a national educational project about asteroids. One of the goals of the project is to research how the use of middle school students can help the exhibit development process. This news feature is scheduled to air on KGNU on March 10, 2009.

No Place Like Home - This is a documentary I produced for Free Speech Radio News. It's about the challenges that homeless schoolchildren face. Catherine Komp was the producer at FSRN and Antonio Ortiz was the engineering assistant. It aired on November 27 and 28, 2008.

Children in poverty - The 2008 Kids Count report showed an increase of 73 percent in the numbers of children in poverty in Colorado. Here's a news feature about what these numbers mean and the challenges service providers see. It aired on KGNU on September 29, 2008.
